It is our HOPE that this law will provide safer waterways and save many lives.

In utmost appreciation to Secretary Robert Barham, Senator Robert ‘Bob’ Kostelka and Governor Bobby Jindal.

We would also like to thank Connie Sampognero. WIthout her enormous amounts of help, this law would not have been written or passed into law so quickly.

Following Trey's accident, we discovered a problem in the law concerning motorized vehicles on the waterways. With the help of Secretary Robert Barham and Senator Robert "Bob" Kostelka, we were able to pass a law that was renamed in Trey's honor. Secretary Barham chose to call it the Trey Altick Law. It is now mandatory for accidents on the waterways involving motorized vehicles (including jet skis and boats) to be treated as an accident that occurs on the roadways of the state. From this point forward, when a fatality occurs on the waterways of our state involving a motorized vehicle, it is now mandatory for the patrol officer and/or investigators to perform alcohol and drug screening on the operator of the vehicle.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 7:12
